Labrador Tea has been used to relieve chronic pain and headaches and is a powerful antioxidant. It has been known to combat stress, alleviate respiratory issues, improve insulin sensitivity, and support the liver and kidneys. High in vitamin C and containing strong anti-inflammatory properties, this evergreen shrub has also been utilized for tanning hides, marinating meats, and soothing skin ailments.
Trappers, early settlers and Indigenous people have enjoyed Labrador Tea for centuries, and its comforting flavour has brought to many a calm and comforting repose when faced with the long, dark winter nights of the North.
We enjoy Labrador Tea for its lovely flavour and exotic, glowing-red orange colour. For tea, pour 8 ounces of boiled water over 1-2 teaspoons of ripped Labrador Tea leaves. Cover and steep for 7-60 minutes or until desired strength is reached.
We recommend drinking no more than 1 cup a day, and not drinking on a regular basis as Labrador Tea contains some toxic compounds that can, if taken in large quantities, cause negative side effects including cramps, vomiting, diarrhea and delirium. Do not drink if pregnant or breastfeeding.
